Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe forfeits: Mojo Star not certain to run as 14 remain

Mojo Star: features among the entries for Friday's Listed Noel Murless Stakes at Ascot
1 of 1

There were no defections for Sunday's Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Tuesday morning, leaving Tarnawa heading a field of 14 after the second forfeit stage.

The Dermot Weld-trained filly is disputing favouritism for Sunday's Group 1 showpiece with Derby winner Adayar, who is set to be supplemented for the race on Wednesday along with Snowfall.

Others to stand their ground included Japanese challenger Chrono Genesis plus Adayar's St Leger-winning stablemate Hurricane Lane and the Doncaster runner-up Mojo Star.

The field is expected to be bolstered on Wednesday when Adayar and Snowfall will be supplemented at a cost of €120,000 each, before declarations and the draw are revealed on Thursday.

However, Amo Racing's Mojo Star is not certain to take his chance as the owners' racing manager Emily Scott indicated that discussions are still ongoing and options remain open.

The three-year-old, who was also second in the Derby to Adayar, features among the entries for the Listed Noel Murless Stakes at Ascot on Friday, with declarations for that race due on Wednesday.

Mojo Star is priced among the outsiders for the Arc at 66-1, with Tarnawa and Adayar vying for favouritism with various bookmakers.

Adayar heads Coral's market at 5-2 with Tarnawa 11-4, and David Stevens, the firm's head of racing PR, said: "Adayar is currently attracting the most support for Sunday's big race, while Hurricane Lane has also been popular.

Adayar: heads Coral's Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe market at 5-2

"While Adayar has regained favouritism from Tarnawa, the Derby winner is by no means certain to start favourite, with the filly heading to Longchamp with plenty of her own backers."

The ground at Longchamp was described as good to soft, good in places on Tuesday morning after 5mm of overnight rain. Up to 2mm of rain is forecast in the next 24 hours.
