First-season trainer George Scott admitted he “needed one” after George Cinq ended a quiet spell for the Newmarket stable in the 7f classified stakes.
The former assistant to Lady Cecil enjoyed a bright start to his training career but his progress has been checked by a blank June and he is hoping the change in months brings an upturn in fortunes.
“We’ve been short of a bit of luck and when you’ve got a small string you feel every result that doesn’t go your way, and then you have to wait five or so days for another runner,” he said.
