Short makes it count on second course visit

Adam Short’s first visit to Towcester left him a little underwhelmed with two seconds from two rides but the Irish rider put that right with an all-the-way success on Chitu for his boss Patrick Griffin in the 2m novice chase.
The 20-year-old, who also rides for Noel Meade and Paul Stafford in his homeland, looked very good value for his 7lb claim as he registered a 16th career win and eighth of the season.
“I got a feel for the track in the spring when we hit the crossbar a couple of times and it was good to get a winner today,” said the rider.
