Ollie Pears was shopping for his next bargain when Placebo Effect confirmed there was value to be gained from a cheap horse with his third win in four starts.

His first two victories came in sellers and with Pears managing to hold on to Placebo Effect, the trainer's investment looked even better when the gelding won his first nursery, weaving between horses to win by a length and a quarter.

Pears was attending the Goffs UK Doncaster sale hoping his two purchases to date, a Tagula filly bought for £3,000 and a Sir Percy colt for £5,000, could be a next Placebo Effect.
