Those third-round clashes will reveal more but neither should stumble, while women’s title favourite Iga Swiatek will be expected to blast her way past seeded rival Anna Kalinskaya.

Home favourite Coco Gauff and two-time champion Naomi Osaka are other stars on show in the women’s draw on day seven at Flushing Meadows.

US Open day seven preview

Alexander Bublik vs Tommy Paul predictions

Bookmakers have differing views on who should be favourite for this third-round clash between Alexander Bublik and Tommy Paul, but the Kazakhstan player is in the form of his life and has the more concrete claims.

Bublik has taken three titles in 2025, winning the Halle Open, Swiss Open and Austrian Open, and has lost only three of his 27 matches since the beginning of May.

The world number 24 has recorded 3-0 wins over Marin Cilic and Tristan Schoolkate and has the beating of Paul, who needed five sets and over four hours to fend off Nuno Borges in round two.

The American has dropped off since making the French Open quarter-final in June, having suffered defeats to Dan Evans, Sebastian Ofner and Adrian Mannarino.

Amanda Anisimova vs Jaqueline Cristian predictions

Jaqueline Cristian has already upset two of the home contingent in wins over Danielle Collins and Ashlyn Krueger, but the run should come to an end against American world number nine Amanda Anisimova.

Cristian is bidding to make the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career but the odds are stacked against her as Anisimova was runner-up to Swiatek at Wimbledon in July and looks determined to go one place better.

The 23-year-old has eased to 2-0 victories over Kimberly Birrell and Maya Joint and can repeat the feat against her Romanian rival.

Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Maria Sakkari predictions

Beatriz Haddad Maia has won all three previous meetings with Maria Sakkari and the Brazilian looks a big price to maintain that perfect record.

Sakkari has slid down the rankings in recent years, having once been at world number three but now sits at world number 64, and the former US Open semi-finalist has failed to go past round three of a Grand Slam in her last 14 attempts.

Haddad Maia was a New York quarter-finalist last year and her tournament wins over Sonay Kartal and Viktorija Golubic suggest that she may have found her A-game in the States again.
