The Owen Burrows-trained Touleen shot to the head of the market for this month's Group 2 Rockfel Stakes after making it two wins out of two in the 7f fillies’ novice.

The daughter of Lope De Vega was restless in the stalls but it did not hinder her performance and a sharp turn of foot was enough to see off odds-on favourite Zanthos, a €1 million purchase in May.

William Buick was on board the 9-4 winner in place of Jim Crowley, who remains sidelined after a heavy fall on Sunday.

Burrows told Racing TV: “She’s a very exciting filly, you can be nothing but impressed, especially given the reputation of the filly in second.

“She did everything right at Newbury on her debut and did everything right again today. She was a bit unsettled in the stalls, as she was in there for a while, so we’ll do some work on that, but otherwise she’s great beforehand.

“If she comes out of this okay we’ve certainly got to look at the Rockfel. She’s by Lope De Vega, so I think she’ll handle a bit of cut as well. She’s in the Fillies’ Mile too which we'll have to think about.”

Touleen was also cut to 8-1 (from 16) for the Fillies’ Mile with Paddy Power and is Sky Bet's 9-4 favourite (from 16) for the Rockfel.

Spicy success

Grace Harris added to her best season on the Flat when Over Spiced won the 5f handicap to give the trainer her 17th success of the campaign. The 10-1 chance beat Tanjen by half a length under Rossa Ryan.
