Gethings nails landmark winner after course walk serves up clues

It was a bitter day but that did not stop Ciaran Gethings from taking the trouble to walk the course before his one mount of the afternoon on Classic Ben.

Gethings learnt the ground was much better out wide so took that course throughout the 3m handicap chase.

The reward was not just victory for Classic Ben, by a neck over Ami Desbois, but a 100th success for the rider.
