Dreams continue to come true for Stack

THE tremendous start to the official training career of Fozzy Stack continued at his local track as the stable’s grand stalwart Onenightidreamed took advantage of ideal ground in the 7½f conditions race.

The withdrawal of likely second favourite Raymonda made the task easier – although being left in front turning into the straight did not – but when runner-up Master Speaker came upsides, Onenightidreamed picked up well for Chris Hayes and went away to score by a snug two and a quarter lengths.

Stack said: “Being in front two down wasn’t ideal because he’s never won any race in his life further than about half a length, but he did it snugly in the end. Chris said when the other horse came to him he just picked up again.

“If the ground stays soft he might go for a race like the Amethyst Stakes at Leopardstown, and when the ground dries up he’ll be going on his holidays.

“He’s been a great servant. Hopefully he could come back in the spring next year if he retains his ability. We’ll see what happens.”

Kilcullen trainer Aidan Howard was grateful to a host of people for getting his mare Not A Whisper to the track in time to contest the first division of the 7½f handicap – efforts which proved well worthwhile as the daughter of Kodiac justified 15-8 favouritism under a determined drive from champion jockey Pat Smullen.

Howard’s horsebox broke down half an hour into the journey and his phone calls to jockey Barry Cash and trainer Conor O’Dwyer led to Cash driving the horse to the races in O’Dwyer’s horsebox. The rest, as they say, is history.
