'I've been lucky with draws tonight' - Richard Kingscote off the mark in Hong Kong in style with 157-1 Sha Tin treble

Derby-winning rider Richard Kingscote ended his quest for a first win in Hong Kong in spectacular style when scoring on all three rides at Sha Tin on Wednesday evening.
Kingscote had answered the call from the Hong Kong Jockey Club to take up a six-week stint after several established names, including Zac Purton and Vincent Ho, suffered injuries last month. However, he had gone 31 rides without success before the all-dirt card. This time, though, he broke the drought in emphatic fashion.
He burst clear aboard the Ricky Yiu-trained Chill Kaka to win the second division of the mile handicap before doubling the score on Fashion Legend for trainer David Eustace in the familiar white-and-red colours of owner Boniface Ho. The clean sweep was completed when Kingscote again extricated himself from a pocket before driving home another Yiu inmate, Rising Force, in the second division of the 6f handicap.
Kingscote, whose contract runs until next Wednesday's Happy Valley card, said: “It’s a big result. Obviously time was running out to ride some winners, but luckily I have and thanks to the connections who put me on.
"I’ve been lucky with draws tonight and horses who are capable, so I think it was a big help.
“Things have been building with a bit of momentum and the support of some trainers, it’s been great. I've had some horses running well but not quite able to get there.”
Asked about his overall impressions of racing in Hong Kong, Kingscote said: “It's very competitive but I've really enjoyed it. Hopefully they'll let me come back.”
