Wathnan debutant bids to emulate Royal Ascot winner at Beverley plus an intriguing clash in Cathedral at Salisbury
Punting pointers for some of Saturday's meetings

Beverley: another Royal Ascot star for Wathnan?
A Royal Ascot star could be uncovered at Beverley as Naval Light aims to tread a familiar route to glory for Wathnan Racing in the 5f conditions stakes (2.45).
The Qatari operation landed this £50,000 contest last year with Shareholder, who followed up in the Norfolk Stakes, and the owners and trainer Karl Burke are again represented by a promising newcomer in Sam James's mount.
Naval Light cost 360,000gns at the breeze-up sales and is one of two debutants in the field alongside outsider Straight Ahead, but he faces tougher opposition from a host of first-time-out winners, including the Richard Hannon-trained Raakeb.
James and Burke also field the favourite for the Hilary Needler Trophy (2.10) in Ali Shuffle, who bids for a four-timer after her Lily Agnes win at Chester.
Beverley stat: Ollie Sangster aims to boost 60 per cent juvenile record
The Wiltshire-based trainer has three winners from five runners in non-handicap juvenile races at the track and saddles Artista in the Hilary Needler Trophy (2.10).
Cartmel: Fairlawn flies towards four-timer for the Bowens
Cartmel's first meeting of the season marks the start of the new summer jumps championships. Announced on Monday, the Racecourse Association-led initiative will crown a champion jockey, owner, trainer and small trainer based on points earned between Saturday and September 19.
That has unsurprisingly caught the attention of the Bowen family, with son Sean the likely favourite to add to his haul after being crowned champion jockey last season and brother Mickey responsible for one of the most successful yards during the summer months.
The son of Peter, who retired from training at the start of the season, looks to get off to a great start when Fairlawn Flyer bids for a four-timer in the 3m1½f handicap chase (5.38).
The nine-year-old has been in fine form and has proved adaptable with recent wins over 3m3½f, 2m7½f and most recently 3m6½f, where he denied Busty Boy off a mark of 104.
Bowen has a 23 per cent success rate at the course and Fairlawn Flyer takes on three rivals, with stablemate Jerrash chasing his first win of the year.
Bowen said: "Fairlawn Flyer's in great form. There's a bit of rain in the forecast overnight and he wouldn't mind that coming. He should have a great chance. If he can go up a bit in the handicap, then we can look at the Summer National.
"This new championships is great. We've got 30 in for the summer and some nice horses too. Summer jumps is great, so this gives everyone a chance."
Catterick: Pears out to make more profit with handicappers
A £1 level stake on Ollie Pears's runners in three-year-old handicaps at Catterick in the last four seasons would result in a fruitful £49.50 profit and the North Yorkshire trainer aims to enhance his record with Salaria.
The filly has finished in the top three in three of her last four starts without winning but aims to finally break her duck in the 1m4f handicap (4.35) under Harry Russell, who has ridden Salaria in all seven starts.
Russell also partners Wonderous Ways, who could also improve Pears's 25 per cent strike rate (3-12) in three-year-old handicaps when he takes on four rivals over seven furlongs (2.15).
Salisbury: Jasour and Jarraaf face off in Cathedral clash
The Listed Cathedral Stakes (6.50) has enticed some exciting runners who will hope to stretch their legs one last time before heading to Royal Ascot.
Trainer Owen Burrows aims to score again with Jarraaf after his win last year with Raqiya. The Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum-owned four-year-old has crept up in class after winning at the Shergar Cup meeting last year under Billy Loughnane, who is back on board for this 6f contest.
The colt takes on Jasour, who returns for his first trip since wind surgery. This Listed race is a drop in class from his previous four starts in Group 1 races, including when third in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot last year. Jim Crowley has ridden the Havana Grey colt in his last fiveraces and retains the ride.
Also featuring in the eight-runner field is Group 2 winner Annaf, who attempts to give Mick Appleby a first success in the race.
Salisbury stat: James Fanshawe aims to boost 60 per cent record
James Fanshawe has saddled three winners from five runners at the track in three-year-old and older handicaps. He runs hat-trick-seeker Sky Safari (5.20) and Wannabe Brave (8.20).
Windsor: Raffles bids to make winning start for Jones
Consistent filly Raffles Angel will aim to return to winning ways as she makes her first start of the season in the 6f handicap (7.35).
The four-year-old has been placed in six of her nine races, including victories over this trip at Ripon, Lingfield and Yarmouth last year. She makes her first start for Jack Jones in this Class 4 contest, having moved from Rae Guest at the start of the year.
Jonny Peate takes over the ride for the first time and his mount gets 2lb from top-rated Lady Dreamer, while Noel Fox, who shares Lady Dreamer's rating of 78, benefits from the 7lb allowance of Jack Dace.
