Can Aidan O'Brien's Australian recruit Storm Boy whip up something special in the Greenlands?

It is time to see what Storm Boy can whip up.

The speedy son of Justify won five times in Australia for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, with his best performance coming in the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes at Rosehill, where he mastered Mayfair impressively by three lengths to earn a Racing Post Rating of 117.

The three-year-old arrives in Ireland with a big reputation and shades of Starspangledbanner, who made a seamless transition from Australia to Ireland and landed the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on only his second start for Aidan O'Brien in 2010. Can Storm Boy do likewise 15 years later?

He is priced between 11-2 and 7-1 for that Group 1 contest on the final day of the royal meeting, while he is a similar sort of price for the King Charles III Stakes on the first day over a furlong shorter. This might tell us which direction he will go.

However, victory here is not a given. Not by a long shot, as he faces some rapid race-fit rivals and British-based sprinters have won this Group 2 race for the last three years on the trot and five times over the last decade.

Former French runner Grand Grey made a promising start to life with Kevin Ryan when second in the Abernant Stakes at Newmarket last month, while the older Lethal Levin gets, the quicker he seems to become.

Yet perhaps the biggest British player is Iberian. He was a top-class juvenile and won the Champagne Stakes. Although his Classic season was a write-off, he has returned at four with more spice and there was plenty to like about his Cammidge Trophy defeat. He could be the one to beat for last year's winning trainer Charlie Hills.

What they say

Adam Ryan, assistant to Kevin Ryan, trainer of Grand Grey
It was his first run for us when he finished second in the Abernant. He has come on for the run, and the Curragh should suit his style of running. He travelled out there well.

Charlie Hills, trainer of Iberian
I've been very happy with him at home and it's been the idea to come to the Curragh with him for a while. I think the track will suit him well.

Clive Cox, trainer of James's Delight
He will appreciate any rain. He's in excellent form and I think the track will suit him well.

Aidan O'Brien, trainer of Storm Boy
He's just ready to start. We think he's going to improve a lot for the run and we're going to find out a lot about him here, as there's a lot of stuff we don't know about him yet. We're just trying to get a race into him before Ascot and we'll know where to go with him after it. It's a total learning curve for us. We're finding our way with him and it's going to be very interesting to see what happens.

Willie McCreery, trainer of Vespertilio
She's coming back in trip and it's a tall order but she's in good form since Leopardstown. She likes the Curragh, so we're looking forward to it.
