Saturday's feature race marks a glorious time for jumps fans - and the spring marathons can start as they are likely to go on

There are only ten Saturdays left of the current British jumps season. Six of them will contain a major staying handicap chase over three miles or more. 

Aside from some midweek carry-on in Gloucestershire in a few weeks' time, the principal betting events for the rest of this season will be in staying handicap chases. It is the most wonderful time of the year.

I have always called these races home, and if I was able to offer just one nugget of advice for punters in these races it would be to make sure you have brushed up on your novices. While that advice tends to get more relevant on the other side of Cheltenham, this year it is vital to figuring out the Ladbrokes Trophy.
