Please do not destroy my first true love

Any decision to close Kempton Park is a tragedy. It provided my introduction to racing 60 years when, together with my brother, I was taken by my father and was immediately hooked.

Watching Scobie Breasley winning on the grass sprint track and the amazing sight to a young boy of the giant Prince Monolulu with huge plumes on his head shouting: “I Gotta Horse,” have remained with me over the years.

Although living in the north makes for infrequent visits I am still thrilled by the experience.
