Shadow Of Light cements position as leading juvenile with Dewhurst success - and the form could rate higher in time

Shadow Of Light cemented his position as the leading two-year-old with success in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes on Saturday, confirming the impression from his Middle Park win that the step up to 7f would suit and overcoming an unfavourable track position to return a Racing Post Rating of 115+.
Although the bare form rates a little below that of his four-length defeat of Whistlejacket a fortnight earlier, where he ran to a season-leading RPR of 117+, he again impressed with a strong finish to run down the rail-running Expanded and stablemate Ancient Truth.
Pulling four lengths clear of National Stakes third Seagulls Eleven among the trio to race centre track, suggesting he could be rated better than the bare form, this was another high-class success from the Godolphin colt.
