The quality of horses targeted at four-year-old maidens has increased with each passing season, and the proof could be found in Sunday's three races.

At Ballycahane, three of the first four finishers in the four-year-old geldings’ maiden were bought at the store sales last summer for an average price of €62,000 Warren Ewing’s Fort Summer, who finished third, was the exception having been bought as a foal for €12,500.

The race also featured a €165,000 purchase from Gigginstown.
