There's an awful long way to go until the Arc in October, but there was plenty of movement in the market for the Longchamp showpiece over the weekend.
This column has already pinned its colours to Whirl’s mast following her fine run in the Oaks, so it was heartening to see her boost her claims by winning the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday.
She beat Kalpana fair and square, forging on at the line to win by a length and a quarter, and she is now 12-1 with most firms for Paris, although you can still get 16-1 with William Hill. And don’t forget she will need supplementing.
