Cheltenham’s December meeting was evidence that Dan Skelton isn’t just the trainer to beat right now – he’s also assembling a seriously strong squad for the spring.
Leading the way on what was a good weekend for the Skelton team, Fortune De Mer solidified his position at the top of the County Hurdle market with an ultimately comfortable win at Cheltenham on Friday.
Harry Skelton rides him with exaggerated confidence and sets him a lot to do, which is always a worry in two-mile handicap hurdles, in which things can happen quickly in front of you.
