Inothewayurthinkin up there with the best Gold Cup winners of the last decade

In the blink of an eye another Cheltenham Festival has passed us by. Once again it was a week full of exceptional performances, none more so than in the Gold Cup.
Galopin Des Champs was attempting to become the first since Best Mate to chalk up a hat-trick. It was not to be, however, with seven-year-old Inothewayurthinkin taking the honours. The victory warranted a Racing Post Rating of 182, which ranks him among the best winners of the race over the past decade; only Galopin Des Champs has achieved a better RPR in the period.
Galopin Des Champs was not at his best, but by no means was it a poor performance. He finished six lengths back in second and achieved an RPR of 175. It underlined how difficult it is to win three Gold Cups in a row.
