'If only he could train racehorses like he can catch cricket balls' - Newmarket's trainers fall to honourable defeat

It was a case of another year, another honourable defeat for the Racing & Trainers XI in their annual cricket match against Newmarket Cricket Club.

Playing for the Jordan Smith Memorial Cup, named in honour of the popular work-rider who died in 2023, the teams competed in a 25-over match which attracted a large crowd to Dullingham, including July Cup-winning jockey Neil Callan.

As well as many runs and spectacular catches, there were also plenty of laughs thanks to a master of ceremonies who kept the crowd entertained all afternoon. No-one was safe.
