Field Of Gold rates exciting prospect after Solario success and French Group 1 looks his obvious next port of call

Field Of Gold’s success in the Solario Stakes saw John Gosden become the leading trainer in the race, winning it for the seventh time in total and the second since taking out a joint-licence with son Thady at the start of the 2021 turf season.
Although the field wasn’t high on achievement pre-race, it did contain several interesting sorts. Matauri Bay and Royal Playwright were both once-raced winners who had created good impressions on their debut, while Tiger Mask arrived having finished fourth in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood. The only runner not to have tasted success was the rank outsider Zou’s Your Daddy.
The most interesting runner, however, in terms of form and profile appeared to be Field Of Gold, and he confirmed that impression by winning by three-quarters of a length. A new Racing Post Rating of 104 doesn’t rank highly in terms of recent Solario Stakes history, but that has been somewhat typical of the juvenile Pattern races this season and it’s best to focus on the potential of the first three home.
