Delacroix leapfrogs Derby-winning stablemate into second in this year's three-year-old rankings after Eclipse win

With no confirmed pace there was always the chance that the Coral-Eclipse would prove a messy affair and, with Ryan Moore dropping Delacroix – the only one to have previously front-run – off the early pace, it proved just that.

That is not to take anything away from Delacroix, who did well to run down Ombudsman from an unpromising position and can be rated better than the bare form with an up-to-standard Racing Post Rating of 126+.

Upsides Prix du Jockey Club winner Camille Pissarro three furlongs out, Delacroix lost just over a length against his stablemate before producing a swift and strong final furlong.
