Amo Racing's new powerbase gets a major facelift - and the local MP is among the first to see it
Once home to the legendary Shergar, Freemason Lodge Stables has recently been refurbished

Newmarket and West Suffolk MP Nick Timothy was one of the first to get a sneak peek at the refurbishment to Amo Racing’s new base at Freemason Lodge Stables on the Bury Road when he visited the town at the recent Guineas festival.
Amo supremo Kia Joorabchian and director Amy Drummond showed the MP around the 100-box yard, which was the base of Sir Michael Stoute until he retired last November, after which it was bought privately.
The restoration of the historic stables, now the base of Amo’s private trainer Raphael Freire, is close to complete after which they will be similar to when they housed many of ten-time champion trainer Stoute’s greats, including Derby winners Shergar, Shahrastani, Kris Kin, North Light, Workforce and Desert Crown.
