The curtain comes down on the ATP Tour season in Turin this week with eight of the leading nine players in the men's game competing for top prize at the ATP Finals.

Defending champion Jannik Sinner, who has the luxury of playing in front of a home crowd in Italy, heads the betting for the eight-day tournament, where the format is two round-robin groups of four, with the top two from each section advancing to the semi-finals.

Sinner is joined in Group Bjorn Borg by Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton and Felix Auger-Aliassime, while Group Jimmy Connors sees Carlos Alcaraz do battle Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur, as well as Lorenzo Musetti, who has replaced the injured Novak Djokovic.

ATP Finals preview

It should come as no surprise to see 20-1 bar the big two, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, in the season-ending ATP Finals and bookmakers believe home-court advantage could be crucial at the Inalpi Arena in Turin.

Sinner delighted his Italian faithful when taking the title with victory over Taylor Fritz last season, having been runner-up to Novak Djokovic in 2023, and he is odds-on to make it a successful title defence.

Titles at the Vienna Open and Paris Masters have teed up things nicely for Sinner, who has won his last 19 completed matches and dropped only three sets in the process, and he looks tough to topple.

Alcaraz, having lost 6-2 6-4 to Sinner at the Six Kings Slam Exhibition in Saudi last month before suffering a shock defeat to Cameron Norrie in Paris, has far more to prove.

The Spaniard may be feeling the effects of a long season, which has featured Grand Slam successes at the French Open and the US Open, and last year he was a group-stage casualty following defeats to Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud.

Sinner may take some stopping, and the draw in the Jimmy Connors Group has opened up for Alcaraz following Novak Djokovic's withdrawal through injury.

Winning the group and avoiding Sinner until the final will be priority and, with little to recommend last year’s runner-up Fritz on recent form, the Spaniard could take some stopping.

However, Sinner stormed through the Paris Masters without dropping a set. He opens his defence against the player he beat in the Paris final, Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Expect the Italian to lay down an early market and set the tone for a title defence.
