Italy vs Spain predictions

Spain were red-hot favourites to win the Women's Euros before a ball was kicked in Switzerland and everything in their opening two games has suggested they are in great shape to add the trophy to their World Cup success.

La Roja have scored 11 goals in their opening two Group C matches and it seems unlikely that Italy will be able to offer much resistance when the pair meet for their closing pool match in Bern.

Italy would have also guaranteed their last-eight spot had they not conceded late on in a draw against Portugal, and there could be a nagging feeling that they could still slip up if Belgium lose to Francisco Neto's team and Spain run riot again.

The problem for the Italians is that danger lies at every turn. Alexia Putellas and Esther Gonzalez already have three tournament goals, five others have opened their account for the world champions and the planet's best player Aitana Bonmati is poised to start after a bout of meningitis.

The Azzurre may simply be unable to keep their rampant opponents at bay so we could be treated to further evidence of why Spain are overwhelming tournament favourites.
