Leeds Rhinos vs St Helens predictions

Old Trafford has been a regular destination for Leeds Rhinos and St Helens in the Super League era and the Theatre of Dreams is again the aim for both this season.

It's three years since the rivals were last in the Grand Final, a game Saints won 24-12 to secure a landmark fourth title on the trot, and the pair are both 10-1 to be crowned champions in October.

Leeds started round 18 third and Saints fifth, just two points adrift of the Yorkshiremen, but there is more substance to the Rhinos' form.

Brad Arthur's men put Super League on notice on Sunday as they inflicted just a second defeat of the season on league leaders Hull KR, which followed on from an entertaining 48-30 win over fourth-placed Leigh.

The Rhinos have won seven of their last eight in the league and are the only side to have beaten every other team in the top eight.

One the face of it, Saints have also been in good nick. But eight of their 11 league wins, including three against crisis club Salford, have come against sides who started round 18 in seventh or below.

Admittedly, they have had the better of Leeds in recent seasons, winning 18 of their last 20 meetings with the Rhinos, but there is a suspicion that the Red Vee are in a slightly elevated position whereas astute Aussie Arthur is building something at Headingley.

The Rhinos have shown in their wins over Hull KR and Wigan that they can tough it out, but also express themselves when required.

Leeds' last home win over St Helens was in 2017, the year of their last Grand Final win. Rhinos fans will be hoping that history is repeated on Friday and in October.
