Frankie Dettori believes superstar mare Enable is 'ready to go' ahead of her return to action in Saturday's Coral-Eclipse at Sandown.

The back-to-back Arc winner has been strongly supported in the betting for the Group 1 prize on Tuesday, shortening from a general 6-5 chance to a 10-11 chance ahead of her first start since winning the Breeders' Cup Turf in November.

Dettori, who has been on board for nine of her ten wins, said: "Riding Enable the last month, she's coming along nicely. We missed Royal Ascot because we felt two more weeks [off the track] would've been better for her.

"Her preparation has gone well. She hasn't raced since the Breeders' Cup but she's a champion and I am very much looking forward to riding her again to show the public that she is still here.

"She's been working okay. She is notoriously not a very good work horse so it's very hard to gauge. Fitness has been an emphasis and priority at the moment and she has come through really well. We are very pleased with her preparation.

He added: "When you go to those kinds of races [Coral-Eclipse] you have to be fully showing up. She hasn't run since the Breeders' Cup so you would have to think she's entitled to improve a little bit for the race, but we go there as fit as we can get her and ready to go."

John Gosden and connections said on Monday they "could not be happier" with Enable as she featured among 13 confirmations for the 1m2f event.

Gosden, who won last year's renewal with Roaring Lion, said: "She’s in good form. She worked under Frankie yesterday [Sunday] morning on the round gallop and I was very happy with it. The plan is to go for the Eclipse and we couldn't be happier with her."

Enable's campaign will revolve around the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, in which she will attempt to become the first horse in history to win France's biggest race three times. She narrowly held on to defeat Sea Of Class at Longchamp last year.

Gosden added: "It’s her first run back and you know the main target is on the first Sunday in October. We’ll try and build to that but we’re happy with her. She’s showing her enjoyment in training and her eagerness. Her exuberant nature is back and she has slimmed down a bit. I couldn’t be more happy with her work on Saturday."

Since 2000, Nathaniel, the sire of Enable, is the only horse to have won the Eclipse on their first start of the season. Enable will be having her first start in 245 days.

Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Prince Khalid Abdullah, added: "We're looking forward to seeing her. All of her work suggests she has been back on track over the last two weeks. She looks like she's been enjoying it and has been moving very well under Frankie so from that point of view we couldn't be happier.

Of the opposition, he added: "There's no such thing as a 'gimmie' in a Group 1 so we will have to see. She is in good form and we're looking forward to it."

Prince of Wales's Stakes winner Crystal Ocean was the big name missing from the star-studded line-up at Sandown, but trainer Sir Michael Stoute remains represented with Lockinge winner Mustashry and Regal Reality, who was an impressive scorer over course and distance last time in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes.

Aidan O'Brien is responsible for five of the 13 potential runners. St James's Palace Stakes victor Circus Maximus could be joined by Magical, Flag Of Honour, Magic Wand and Hunting Horn.

Hughie Morrison's impressive Dante Stakes winner Telecaster will look to return to his best after finishing last in the Derby while Prix d'Ispahan winner Zabeel Prince will bid for his first domestic Group 1 success.

Addeybb, Danceteria and Knight To Behold also feature.

Good to firm expected with dry and warm week forecast

Sandown are expecting the ground to be on the quicker side of good to firm for Saturday's seven-race card, which also includes a Group 3 and two Listed prizes. The forecast is sunny and warm for the week ahead, with no rain expected, before the two-day meeting gets under way on Friday.

Clerk of the course Andrew Cooper said: "It is going to be a dry week with temperatures around 22C. Thursday will possibly be the warmest day at 26C before it goes down to 22C to 23C on the weekend.

"We watered today after a dry, hot weekend and that will take us to just the fast side of good, and we will monitor conditions and watering plans over the week. At this stage, it looks very likely that by Saturday we will be racing on ground that will be a nice safe good to firm, perhaps a shade better than that at the start of the meeting on the Friday.

"It's likely to be the fast side of good ground but not likely to be very quick as we are on top of it as we speak. The temperatures don't suggest it will race away on any particular day."
