Still unsung! Why is Anmaat so short of fans after once more proving himself to be among the very best?

What does a horse have to do? Anmaat is a star but it's taking a puzzling amount of time for him to be widely recognised as such, with so many telescopes pointing elsewhere.
Over the last three seasons, he's put up a single disappointing effort. The rest of the time, he's either been first or second, but he seems not to have accumulated many fans, judging by the way he was allowed to drift out to 40-1 before landing the Champion Stakes in October.
Sunday's Tattersalls Gold Cup was the latest evidence that most punters don't take him very seriously, as he was allowed to start at 8-1, fifth in the betting, despite having won both his previous attempts in Group 1s. Surely he won himself some more admirers with the way he cruised into contention, while every jockey bar Jim Crowley was rowing away?
