Uttoxeter gets go-ahead after fourth inspection
Saturday's meeting at Uttoxeter has finally got the all-clear, four and a half hours after it first passed an inspection.
A snow storm and a further three impromptu inspections later clerk of the course Charlie Moore was able to give the seven-race card the green light.
Having been declared fit to race at 7.30, despite falling snow, Uttoxeter was hit with a snow storm that put the meeting back in jeopardy and a further inspection was called for 10am.
At 10am officials felt the need to delay the decision until 11am, and at 11am it was pushed back to midday when the BHA intervened and took the decision out of Uttoxeter's hands - holding the noon inspection themselves along with assorted trainers and jockeys.
Stipendiary steward Louise Moore said: "Racing goes ahead. There is some snow on the track but it is sloshy and the jockeys are confident they will kick through it. If the clerk of the course has any concerns, the first race will be put back."
The card is due to start at 1.10 and finish at 4.35 but Uttoxeter have the option of delaying the first race and running on until 5pm.
