Cheat sheet: rain could impact day three going - plus all the key quotes, tips and analysis you need for Thursday at Glorious Goodwood
Matt Rennie picks out the key angles as a racing feast continues

Glorious Goodwood rolls into day three, kicking off with the ultra-competitive Kincsem Handicap and continues way after ITV goes off air following the 5f handicap (3.45). The Nassau, Gordon and Richmond Stakes are previewed separately, but we've got you covered for the rest of the card. This is the Glorious Goodwood cheat sheet.

The killer analysis
Keith Melrose on the race to focus on from the Goodwood undercard . . .
A horse that runs the Racing Post standard time over five furlongs at Goodwood (56.8 seconds) would almost have time to get unsaddled while they waited for one to do the same at Ascot (59.5s) or Sandown (59.8s).
That matters in the Buccellati Handicap (3.45) for three-year-olds on Thursday. There are two course winners this year in the field: Getreadytorumble and Ruby's Profit. Both are expected to benefit from a return to this course.
Ruby's Profit has run twice since. First, she went to Epsom for the '3YO Dash' (RP standard time 53.8s, incidentally) and overdid it if anything, finishing third. She then went to Ascot and could not keep up her blistering early pace in the Holyroodhouse.
Getreadytorumble won emphatically here on the same day as the Holyroodhouse, despite still looking green on his handicap debut. He underlined the point when he went to Sandown a couple of weeks later. He might even have still been in front when he jumped the path a furlong out that day. A loss of momentum at that stage was, of course, fatal to his chances.
Both horses have likely been kept for this race. We are getting to the stage of the week where the straight course can become a crap shoot when it comes to the draw. However, Getreadytorumble (stall 11 of 16) is more likely than not to still be on the right side, while Ruby's Profit may well be fast enough to overcome any small inconvenience stall eight might cause.
This race has been won in the last two years by JM Jungle and Shagraan. That gives a clue to the type of horse you need. Getreadytorumble and Ruby's Profit could develop into similar types in the coming months and years.
Going latest: rain expected

Showery rain arrived at Goodwood at 11am on Thursday and clerk of the course Ed Arkell expects it to stick around for the majority of Thursday.
Thundery downpours are also a possibility, with Arkell anticipating anywhere between 5mm and 20mm during racing. The going is currently good, good to firm in places but that will be monitored through the course of the day.
"The rain started when the forecast told us it was going to at around 11am," said Arkell. "There's been some showery stuff so far and it's showery on and off for most of the day. And the levels are somewhere between 5mm and 20mm."
The top end of that range would likely cause a significant change to ground conditions but Arkell is expecting something more manageable.
"I'd say 8mm to 12mm is the most likely," he added. "They're covering their backs but it could become thundery.
"I've left the going as good, good to firm in places and we'll play it by ear as the day goes on. The suggestion is it might get a little bit heavier as the day goes on and towards the end of racing.
"The ground needs a drink and if we hadn't had this forecast we'd have put some water on it last night. I certainly would have tonight had we not had any."
3.45 Goodwood: Buccellati Handicap

Jamie Insole, joint-trainer of Ruby's Profit
She had a really good start this season and we know the track will really suit. If there's any rain she should be okay and we've freshened her up for this since Ascot. She's got a great chance.
Jack Channon, trainer of Getreadytorumble
We've had this in mind for him for a while. He was very unlucky at Sandown last time as he jumped the path, but we hope he can take a big step forward and, if he does, he has a great chance.
Mick Appleby, trainer of Nad Alshiba Green and Winchurch
Both are in good order, but we hope the ground doesn't get too quick for Nad Alshiba Green. It'd definitely be a plus if it rains for her, but not for Winchurch. He may not run if it gets too soft, but we're very happy with both and hoping for good runs.
Spotlight's tip: Getreadytorumble
Being a course-and-distance winner who likely has further progress in him, GETREADYTORUMBLE is preferred. Ruby's Profit is second pick. [Steve Boow]
4.20 Goodwood: Phase Eight Nursery Handicap

Eve Johnson Houghton, trainer of Goldwork and Steel Drum
I always thought Goldwork was nearly one of my best. He was slightly disappointing last time, but he's a lovely horse and I think he'll be better next year, but should go well off his mark. Steel Drum has shown plenty of promise. He's a good, fun horse. I'd love to get his head down – he loves putting his head in the air – but he tries and he does his best.
Jamie Insole, joint-trainer of Spinning Lizzie
She found six furlongs in the Albany a little bit sharp, so the step up in trip should suit. She's against the boys and it'll be tough, but she's off a nice mark and we really like her. Her work has been very good.

American Gulf remains of interest but course winner GOLDWORK seems well regarded and can bounce back from his Newbury failure. [Alistair Jones]
4.55 Goodwood: Tatler British EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes

Karl Burke, trainer of Aylin
She's a lovely filly. She was a little bit unlucky not to win at York on her first start. The step up to seven furlongs will suit and she's got a nice draw, so we're hopeful of a big run.
Richard Brown, racing adviser to Wathnan Racing, owners of Proposal and Quiescent
Proposal is making her debut. She's a Frankel filly who is well liked at home. It's a big field and it's quite an experience for a two-year-old, but she'll be given as nice an experience as she can. Whether she'll be streetwise enough I don't know. Quiescent made a lovely debut at Newmarket behind what looked a very smart filly of Cheveley Park's called Moon Target. Hamad [Al Jehani, trainer] reports that she's come forward for the run.
David Menuisier, trainer of Brighlee
She's a really nice filly and I'm taking my time with her as I feel she could be quite good. We gave her a big break since she was second on her debut and I'd like to think she'll run a good race.
Spotlight's tip: Aylin

5.30 Goodwood: World Pool Bet With The Tote Handicap

Richard Brown, racing adviser to Wathnan Racing, owners of Wicked
He won a competitive handicap at Sandown at the end of May. He's a well-bred colt and I think he can be progressive. He'll likely be better up in trip, but we've put the cheekpieces on here to sharpen him up. I expect him to go well off his mark.
Jamie Insole, joint-trainer of Knights Gold
He's already won four times this season and is just up 2lb for his last win at Ascot, while Elizabeth Gale takes off 5lb. We want the rain to stay away and, if it does, he could be really good value as we thought he was one of our best chances of the week.
Spotlight's tip: Organ
This is wide open but ORGAN is on a roll after three wins in a row and he gets the vote ahead of Wicked and Sea Force. [David Moon]
