The budget has heaped even more trouble on racing - and I fear many trainers will now decide the numbers just don't add up

In my little part of rural England, I know that people are worried. The concerns felt in the Cotswolds will be shared all across the United Kingdom, not least among the racing and equestrian sectors. I'm highlighting those concerns now; I'm sure you will hear more of them over the coming months.
British racing seems to move from one crisis to another and often has to deal with multiple major problems at the same time. At what was hardly a trouble-free period for the sport, another huge worry has emerged.
This one dropped on the industry when Rachel Reeves unveiled her first budget. It would be fair to say no budget is ever going to meet with universal approval, and there is also no doubt the new Labour administration has been set difficult economic questions. My great fear is that some of the government's answers to those questions are bound to hit communities I love tremendously hard.
