What would an optimistic view of the 2021 racing and breeding season in France look like?
For those watching on from outside the walls of France Galop, the most hopeful signal that could emerge would be a confirmation that 2019 levels of prize-money will be restored.
In the heady days of early autumn, when the PMU was enjoying the most startling rebound from lockdown and French racing was basking in the afterglow of a feelgood summer in Deauville, that commitment looked near-ironclad.
