Jim Goldie's remarkable landmarks keep rolling in - and let's hope he keeps sticking it to the elite

Big milestones have been like London buses for Jim Goldie. He waited so long for the main one and then number two came along in no time.

Less than a month after the Scot ended a 30-year wait for a Group 1 winner with American Affair's victory at Royal Ascot, he ticked off his 1,000th Flat winner much closer to home at Hamilton on Friday night. 

No-one can argue that the accolades now coming Goldie's way aren't thoroughly deserved. He has been Scotland's dominant force on the Flat for many years and, since his main rival there, Keith Dalgleish, stopped training in 2023, he has moved to another level.
