Barely 24 hours on from his momentous victory in the Arc at Longchamp, Luke Morris was back in the rather more unglamorous surroundings of Wolverhampton doing what he does best – riding winners.

Britain's hardest-working jockey struck on his first ride since Alpinista's Arc heroics aboard the William-Knight trained Arab Cinder in the 1m4f handicap, the first half of a 103-1 double on Monday evening.

The 7-1 shot travelled in midfield before being shaken up to challenge by Morris at the three-furlong pole and he sweeping clear of Rochebrune to score by five and a half lengths.

The jockey landed his double when 12-1 chance Fly The Nest powered past the front-running Christines Angel in the 1m½f handicap in a one-two for one of Morris's primary supporters Tony Carroll.

Speaking after the first of his winners, Morris reflected on his sensational afternoon in Paris and told Sky Sports Racing: "I'm just so privileged that Sir Mark [Prescott] and Miss Rausing have put their faith in me and given me these opportunities on a big stage. It was great that she [Alpinista] delivered yesterday and it's extremely special.

"If you put the hard yards in you get the opportunities on the big days and Sir Mark has been fantastic giving me those opportunities; to repay Sir Mark and Miss Rausing on a big day is extremely special and it means the world to me."
