Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe: final declarations and the full list of runners and riders
1 Giavellotto (stall 5)
Spotlight comment: Winner of last year's Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin (on good ground) and most recently beat odds-on Kalpana in the September Stakes at Kempton (1m4f, AW; Group 3); however, the six-year-old faces a stiffer task on his Arc debut and no horse of his age has won this prize.
Trainer: Marco Botti
Jockey: Andrea Atzeni
Forecast odds: 25-1
2 White Birch (9)
Spotlight comment: Smart at about 1m2f; completed a notable hat-trick at the Curragh last term, the final leg in Group 1, and 2025 record includes respectable efforts in two races won by Los Angeles; however, this belated return to 1m4f needs to prompt a career-best performance.
Trainer: John Joseph Murphy
Jockey: Dylan Browne McMonagle
Forecast odds: 20-1
3 Arrow Eagle (16)
Spotlight comment: Steadily progressive form this year features a Group 2 success at Chantilly (1m4f, good to soft); however, finished behind some of these rivals in the Prix Foy over course and distance when bidding for a five-timer; half-brother to an Arc winner but he is bottom of this pack on the figures.
Trainer: Jean-Claude Rouget
Jockey: Ioritz Mendizabal
Forecast odds: 100-1
4 Sosie (3)
Spotlight comment: Record of 1114112 at Longchamp features three Group 1 wins, the most recent in May (1m1f, good to soft); ran creditably when favourite for this race 12 months ago and was beaten only half a length by Byzantine Dream in the Prix Foy back here most recently; solid claims.
Trainer: Andre Fabre
Jockey: Stephane Pasquier
Forecast odds: 8-1
5 Los Angeles (14)
Spotlight comment: Curragh double (on good ground) in May featured his third Group 1 win; disappointing on penultimate start and was behind a couple of these rivals in the Prix Foy latest, suggesting he's far from certain to match last year's effort (creditable third) in this contest; headgear fitted.
Trainer: Aidan O'Brien
Jockey: Wayne Lordan
Forecast odds: 25-1
6 Byzantine Dream (15)
Spotlight comment: Japanese four-year-old; better than ever this year, most recently beating Sosie by half a length in the Prix Foy over C&D (good to soft) when dropped back from 2m and taking record under Oisin Murphy to 2-2; poorly drawn but otherwise has possibilities in current form.
Trainer: Tomoyasu Sakaguchi
Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Forecast odds: 12-1
7 Estrange (18)
NON-RUNNER
8 Quisisana (7)
Spotlight comment: Made her first Group 1 attempt a winning one in the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville (1m2f, good; against her own sex) last time, taking record to 6-8 in ready fashion; this is a much stronger race for the grade but she's progressive; 1-1 over 1m4f.
Trainer: Francis Graffard
Jockey: Alexis Pouchin
Forecast odds: 16-1
9 Kalpana (10)
Spotlight comment: Productive 2024 campaign culminated in Group 1 success (11.5f, soft); has played the bridesmaid this term, most recently behind Giavellotto when bidding for a September Stakes double; however, holds major claims on her King George effort at Ascot (good) the time before; headgear applied.
Trainer: Andrew Balding
Jockey: Colin Keane
Forecast odds: 8-1
10 Aventure (12)
Spotlight comment: Comfortably beat Gezora to break her Group 1 duck in the Prix Vermeille over C&D (good to soft) most recently, going one better than 12 months earlier and setting her up perfectly for another Arc attempt (good second last year); very smart filly who holds strong claims.
Trainer: Christophe Ferland
Jockey: Maxime Guyon
Forecast odds: 9-2

11 Daryz (2)
Spotlight comment: Largely progressive at about 1m2f; nearly collared Croix Du Nord in Group 3 at Longchamp (very soft) most recently, taking form figures to 111162; Group 2 scorer in June, prior to a blip in the Juddmonte International; bred to be suited by this new trip and he's by an Arc winner; interesting.
Trainer: Francis Graffard
Jockey: Mickael Barzalona
Forecast odds: 10-1
12 Leffard (6)
Spotlight comment: Looks a plausible Arc candidate, having got up on the line to land the Grand Prix de Paris over C&D (good to soft); however, failed to back up that form when running below market expectations in the Prix Niel, albeit the race didn't pan out favourably.
Trainer: Jean-Claude Rouget
Jockey: Cristian Demuro
Forecast odds: 25-1
13 Cualificar (8)
Spotlight comment: Close second in the French Derby; overcame traffic issues to lead close home in the Prix Niel over C&D (good to soft; first 1m4f attempt) most recently; sound credentials, being a progressive colt whose trainer has landed this prize a record eight times.
Trainer: Andrew Fabre
Jockey: William Buick
Forecast odds: 12-1
14 Hotzahell (11)
Spotlight comment: Ended his two-year-old campaign with a Group 1 win and has proved reasonably consistent kept to the top level in 2025, fourth in the Irish Champion Stakes (1m2f) most recently; however, he's below Arc standard and goes into unknown territory over this distance.
Trainer: Jessica Harrington
Jockey: Shane Foley
Forecast odds: 50-1
15 Croix Du Nord (17)
Spotlight comment: Has made great strides on fast ground in his homeland, notably winning the Japanese Derby in sole 1m4f attempt; followed up in Group 3 at Longchamp (1m2f, very soft; held on narrowly from Daryz) to enhance his Arc claims; poorly drawn but otherwise an improving colt who warrants respect.
Trainer: Takashi Saito
Jockey: Yuichi Kitamura
Forecast odds: 14-1
16 Alohi Alii (4)
Spotlight comment: Finished behind Croix Du Nord in the Japanese 2,000 Guineas but is set for an interesting rematch with that compatriot, having shown clear improvement with easy win from the front in Group 2 at Deauville (1m2f, soft) since; likely to stay 1m4f judged on breeding.
Trainer: Hiroyasu Tanaka
Jockey: Christophe Lemaire
Forecast odds: 14-1
17 Minnie Hauk (1)
Spotlight comment: Supplemented for this race at a cost of €120,000; versatile as regards ground; has completed an Oaks four-timer with her wins at Chester, Epsom, the Curragh and York, last time beating Estrange and taking form figures to 211111; progressive filly who has leading claims.
Trainer: Aidan O'Brien
Jockey: Christophe Soumillon
Forecast odds: 7-2
18 Gezora (13)
Spotlight comment: Solid record (3112) this season for new yard features a success in the French Oaks; ran well behind Aventure in the Prix Vermeille over C&D (good to soft) most recently and may still have further improvement in her; helps to give Francis Henri Graffard an interesting hand.
Trainer: Francis Graffard
Jockey: Tom Marquand
Forecast odds: 14-1
2025 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe verdict
By Steve Boow, tipster
The two suggestions against the field in an open Arc are the interesting three-year-old colts DARYZ and Cualificar. The selection is suitably bred and appears likely to show further progress for this first crack at 1m4f, while the second choice has strong credentials.
Multiple Oaks winner Minnie Hauk takes on males for the first time but gets all the allowances and commands major respect, while Aventure, Kalpana and Gezora are other fillies to consider seriously.
Croix Du Nord, Byzantine Dream and Alohi Alii give Japan a reasonably strong hand, draw complications aside.
