It may seem strange to say it of a filly whose three-year-old career yielded Classics in both England and Ireland, but it is for faraway successes in the early hours of the morning that Snow Fairy deserves to be remembered.

Having been bought back by her owner Cristina Patino for just €1,800 as an unwanted lot at the yearling sales, managed just a Lingfield maiden auction success from six starts as a two-year-old, and not even warranted an entry for the Oaks, it is beyond dispute that the daughter of Intikhab proved something of a surprise package in winning the Height Of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood as the opening volley of her three-year-old season; even more so when she won the Epsom showpiece itself on her next start under a daredevil ride from Ryan Moore; again when she enjoyed an eight-length romp in the Curragh equivalent.
