Willie Mullins has come close to winning the Melbourne Cup without yet getting one over the line.
I thought Vauban might be the one to do it for him and, although that never came to pass, it sounds as if he is enthused about Ethical Diamond this year.
I'm in agreement with him after watching the five-year-old take the Duke of Edinburgh Handicap at Royal Ascot. It was a performance I thought he was always capable of producing, but it had taken a while to come to fruition.
