There's caution over Lambourn's Derby win but Minnie Hauk was up to par in the Oaks

Derby winner's RPR of 122 reflects doubts over the race and falls 2lb below the ten-year median

With a largely unexposed field, many of whom would be racing over a mile and a half for the first time, the level of the Derby form is rarely set in stone. 

This year's result looks to have more questions than usual over the merit of the form though, and a Racing Post Rating of 122 for Lambourn rates on the cautious side for such a decisive Derby winner.

Chief among the doubts are that Lambourn benefited from an assertive ride on a pace-favouring track. With the exception of the 5f sprints and the last two races on Saturday when they came stands' side after further rain, Diomed Stakes winner Persica was the only one of 11 winners over the two days not to be in the first three at the three-furlong pole.
