Exhilarating finishes and new leaders in the final inches as Flat racing on turf returns with a bang at Doncaster

Oh, those poor bookies! They thought they were getting a couple of right results in the big races at Doncaster on Saturday, only to have the cup of joy dashed from their lips at the final moment.
A stride from the line in the Brocklesby, the 25-1 shot Son Of Sarabi held sway. A couple of hours later in the Lincoln itself, Oliver Show (22-1) shot out of the pack to assert himself in the closing stages.
If they'd both held on, the layers would have been wreathed in smiles at the start of Grand National week and a mood of insufferable smugness may have prevailed. But in both races, the lead changed hands in the very last inches and a more fancied runner prevailed each time.
