You don't need sectional timing to know that one of the lads in the GAA charity race at Limerick on Thursday may have kicked for home too soon!

Had there been betting in running during Thursday's 800 metre race - held to raise fund for local GAA clubs - it is unlikely that you would have been able to take even 1.01 about the gentleman in the gold jersey at the furlong pole, such a commanding advantage did he have.

However, unbeknownst to commentator Bob Cooper, who was concentrating on the race for second, the leader started to curl up faster than Crisp in the 1973 Grand National.
