Espanyol draw no bet

Athletic Bilbao vs Espanyol
La Liga, 8pm Monday

Espanyol narrowly avoided relegation from La Liga last season, beating Las Palmas 2-0 at home on the final weekend to secure their top-flight status.

Their fans are having a far more enjoyable campaign in 2025-26 and Espanyol are chasing a fifth straight league victory when they take on Athletic Bilbao on Monday night.

Despite that winning streak, Manolo Gonzalez's men are as big as 5-2 with the draw no bet to defeat an inconsistent Athletic side.

The hosts beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 in their last home fixture, thanks to a cracking late strike from Alex Berenguer, but they have won only four of their last 14 league matches.

Two of those victories came against the bottom two, Real Oviedo and Levante, and Athletic have scored a meagre 15 goals in 17 games in La Liga this season.

They lost 4-0 away to Barcelona on November 22 and were beaten 3-0 by Real Madrid and 2-0 by Celta Vigo this month so they are hard to fancy at odds-on against a confident Espanyol side.

The visitors have made the most of a soft run of fixtures, winning six of their last eight games. Four of their last five victories were by a 1-0 scoreline so their challenge for Europe may not be sustainable in the long term but, at the prices, they are well worth supporting at San Mames.
