Burkina Faso vs Equatorial Guinea
Africa Cup of Nations, 12.30pm Wednesday
Burkina Faso's best effort at an Africa Cup of Nations was as losing finalists in 2013, but they are seeded second in Group E and can start with a victory over Equatorial Guinea in Casablanca.
Reaching the final in 2013 was a big moment for Burkina Faso, who have gone on to establish themselves as one of the stronger African teams.
The Stallions were Afcon semi-finalists in 2017 and 2021 and acquitted themselves well in 2026 World Cup qualifying – finishing second in Group A on 21 points – before losing out to Nigeria in the playoffs.
They have a well-balanced squad featuring Premier League wingers Bertrand Traore and Dango Outtarra and will fancy their chances of at least reaching the knockout rounds.
Equatorial Guinea appear less well equipped having fallen well short in World Cup qualifying.
The Red Devils reached the Afcon semi-finals as the host nation in 2015, but they have a generally poor record in the competition and that trend looks set to continue.
Odds: 17-20 with Hills
