Kerber not performing at her best
Important win for Del Potro

1 World number one has plenty to prove
With Serena Williams unable to defend her Wimbledon crown, the door was left wide open for last year’s runner-up Angelique Kerber to return to her best and go one place better.
However, the world number one did little to suggest her name will be in the mix as she limped past Irina Falconi 6-4 6-4 in her opener.
The German chucked in far too many unforced errors – she made 13 in the first set – and could face a sterner test from Kirsten Flipkens in round two.
2 Del Potro is not done with just yet
The injury-prone Juan Martin del Potro avoided a banana skin by beating big-hitting Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis, keeping a potential third-round clash with Novak Djokovic in the balance.
The Argentinian must overcome Latvian Ernests Gulbis in round two, while Djokovic is required to beat lowly-ranked Czech Adam Pavlasek. It’s down to you now, boys.
3 Raonic makes a winning return
Last year’s runner-up Milos Raonic booked his place in the second round but he was made to work hard by Jan-Lennard Struff.
There were two tie-breaks in Raonic’s straight-sets win and as the winning line got closer, the powerful Canadian idled.
