Windsor abandons before final race after 30-minute deliberation

Racing at Windsor on Monday evening was abandoned before the final race after an inspection from the stewards.
The track was hit with a deluge while racing and the course was inspected, over fears of false ground, after Ryan Moore fell just before crossing the line in the fifth race in third place aboard 6-4 favourite Aplomb.
Course officials inspected conditions and decided to run the following fillies' maiden, although 16 minutes later than scheduled, and jockeys appeared to switch to riding towards the stands' rail for the first time that evening.
But following a lengthy second inspection, it was decided to abandon the meeting before the final race – a mile handicap. That decision was made nearly half an hour after the last contest was scheduled to start.
