Monday

Royal Ascot is just around the corner and some of the biggest gambles at the meeting will take place at the Goffs London Sale. The 30-lot sale gives buyers an opportunity to purchase contenders at the meeting with Tropical Storm, Monteille, Ghostwriter and Montpellier among high-profile horses available to buy. Last year almost £4 million was spent at the sale.

Many of the jockeys set to compete will be just down the road from Ascot at Windsor in the evening, with a qualifier for the sprint series (7.30) the highlight.

Action on the track also comes from Carlisle, Chepstow and Wolverhampton, while in Ireland there is a jumps card at Kilbeggan.

Tuesday

Flat racing's most glamorous event begins in show-stopping style with three Group 1 races on the opening day of Royal Ascot. It all starts with the Queen Anne Stakes (2.30), where Rosallion looks for a first success since the St James's Palace Stakes 12 months ago. He will have to reverse Lockinge form with Lead Artist, with Newbury protagonists Dancing Gemini and Notable Speech also engaged.

The King Charles III Stakes (3.40) has attracted 23 runners including last year's winner Asfoora, and the day builds up to a huge rematch between Field Of Gold and Ruling Court in the St James's Palace Stakes (4.20). Field Of Gold is favourite to reverse the 2,000 Guineas form.

Other fixtures take place at Stratford, Thirsk, Southwell and Beverley.

Wednesday

The Prince of Wales's Stakes (4.20) is the day's highlight at Royal Ascot, with leading contenders from Britain, Ireland and France coming together in Anmaat, Los Angeles and Map Of Stars.

The card kicks off with rapid juvenile fillies in the Queen Mary (2.30), where Wathnan Racing's Zelaina is one of the buzz two-year-olds of the meeting after her winning debut at Nottingham.

The Royal Hunt Cup (5.00) is always one of the hottest betting races of the week and the Duke of Cambridge (3.40) is another highlight.

Jumps fans can be entertained by a card at Worcester, while further Flat action takes place at Hamilton, Ripon and Lingfield.

Thursday

It is Ladies' Day at Royal Ascot and all the attention on the track is on one of the most prestigious races of the week, the Gold Cup (4.20).

The great stayer Kyprios will be missed from the line-up but Aidan O'Brien has an excellent back-up contender in Illinois. He outlined his credentials with a taking performance in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester, but Trawlerman and Candelari provide strong opposition in an open heat.

The Norfolk Stakes (2.30) is the day's top two-year-old contest, and O'Brien has another big chance with Charles Darwin

Further fixtures take place at Chelmsford, Leopardstown, Lingfield, Ripon and Wetherby.

Friday

There is another top-tier clash at Royal Ascot between French 1,000 Guineas winner Zarigana and the unbeaten Falakeyah in the Coronation Stakes (4.20). The latter was supplemented for the race alongside the also unbeaten Kon Tiki.

The Commonwealth Cup (3.05) is the other Group 1 contest of the day and 2,000 Guineas third and last season's champion two-year-old Shadow Of Light is the one to beat.

A busy day also features meetings at Down Royal, Goodwood, Market Rasen, Newmarket and Redcar.

Saturday

Royal Ascot concludes with a super Saturday, headlined by the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (3.40), the final Group 1 contest of the meeting.

It could be Japan's day with Satono Reve the key market mover in the race, while Inisherin bids for another big victory at the meeting a year on from his Commonwealth Cup success.

The Hardwicke (3.05) could once again be a key indicator for next month's King George, while the Wokingham (5.00) remains one of the week's betting highlights.

Other meetings take place in the afternoon at Ayr, Down Royal, Limerick, Newmarket and Redcar, with evening meetings to come from Haydock, Bangor and Lingfield.

Sunday

The week concludes with action across three tracks. The pick of the meetings comes from Yorkshire with the Listed Pontefract Castle Fillies' Stakes (3.40) up for grabs.

The jumps action comes from Hexham with a six-race afternoon card, while a Flat card also takes place at Ffos Las. The pick of the international offerings takes place in Italy, where Milan stages the Grade 2 Italian Oaks.
