Monday

Worcester has the most classy field of the day in the 2m4f handicap chase (2.00) and Dan Skelton is set to be heavily involved with five runners, including Sail Away and Heltenham.

Three Flat meetings complete the action on the opening day of the week and three is the magic number owner-trainer George Boughey is targeting with Kranjcar, who goes for a quick-fire September hat-trick in the 7f handicap (4.12) at Brighton.

Tuesday

It could be a day to look to the future on and off the track, with the acceptance stages for the Fillies' Mile and Dewhurst Stakes among the races that close at midday.

White Sand Beach, a sister to the smart Prettiest, is set to make her debut for Aidan O'Brien in the mile fillies' maiden (1.48) at Punchestown.

At Yarmouth, promising Wathnan Racing colt Division bids for another win in the 6f novice (2.25). He is entered in the Middle Park at Newmarket this month.

There is more Flat racing at Redcar and Wolverhampton, while the jumps action comes from Uttoxeter.

Wednesday

Sandown's Listed Fortune Stakes (3.35) has thrown up some useful winners in the last decade, including Bayside Boy, Mostahdaf, Chindit and King Of Change, and this year could feature Cicero's Gift, Detain and the progressive Sallaal.

Smart colt Cosmic Year made a winning debut in the 7f novice (2.35) on the card 12 months ago and it could be one to watch again, with Godolphin and Cheveley Park among the bigger operations with entries.

There is more Listed action at Yarmouth with the EBF Stallions John Musker Fillies' Stakes (4.00). Running Lion and Charlotte's Web, who won at last month's Ebor meeting, are among those entered.

In the evening, the well-regarded Primoz could return to action in the 2m1f handicap chase (6.30) at Kelso.

Thursday

The three-day Ayr Gold Cup festival gets under way with a £30,000 handicap as the opening-day highlight (2.45). Last year's winner Financier is among the entries.

Rocking Ends could aim to complete a hat-trick for Tom Clover in Yarmouth's feature 6f handicap (3.30), while it is a day to have notebooks at the ready at Naas for a card restricted to two-year-olds.

Zarak The Brave and Sweet Will, both formerly trained in Ireland, are in the line-up for the Grade 1 Lonesome Glory Handicap Hurdle (6.10) in the US.

Friday

The action at Ayr goes up a notch with two Listed races – the Harry Rosebery Stakes (3.05) and the Arran Scottish Sprint EBF Fillies' Stakes (3.40) – followed by the Ayr Bronze Cup (4.15), an appetiser for the Silver and Gold Cups on Saturday.

The historic Haynes, Hanson and Clark Stakes (3.30) was won by several stars of yesteryear and is always a fascinating race at Newbury, and it is swiftly followed by the £50,000 Listed Dubai Duty Free Cup (4.05). Cosmic Year and Spy Chief are among an interesting group of entries.

Saturday

One of the most fiercely competitive handicaps of the year takes centre stage when the Ladbrokes Ayr Gold Cup (3.35) is run. Past winner Lethal Levi heads the weights prior to Monday's confirmations stage, with Nunthorpe runner-up Ain't Nobody and Ebor meeting winner Northern Ticker heading the market at around the 8-1 mark.

The Group 3 Firth of Clyde (3.00) heads the undercard at Ayr and there is further Group action at Newbury in the World Trophy (1.30) and the Mill Reef (3.15). The Clive Cox-trained Coppull will have to give weight away to all if he lines up in the Mill Reef.

The Henry Cecil Open Weekend begins at Newmarket with a dozen trainers scheduled to take part in the first Henry Cecil Open Weekend Charity Race.

The other Group action comes from Gowran Park in the Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes (4.03).

Sunday

John and Thady Gosden's Ombudsman and Field Of Gold add star power to day two of the Henry Cecil Open Weekend when they headline the gallops morning before 8am, while another major pull will be William Haggas opening to the public for the first time at Somerville Lodge.

The most valuable meeting of the day in Britain is at Southwell, with an all-hurdles card at Plumpton and a Flat fixture at Hamilton also scheduled.

In Ireland, the seven-day harvest festival gets under way at Listowel and is always one of the highlights of the autumn.
