The layers deem the Ascot Chase a three-horse book - but this Grade 1 winner could be capable of one last hurrah

It is striking how quickly ante-post markets can change. Corbetts Cross was backable at odds of 5-1 when betting for the Ascot Chase first opened, yet now 9-4 is the top price available about him.
The revised odds are a truer reflection of Corbetts Cross’s chance. This is also a logical destination if avoiding Galopin Des Champs, at least until Cheltenham, has been the goal.
While 2m5f around Ascot is hardly a typical home for a heavy-ground National Hunt Chase winner, Corbetts Cross had the speed to beat Found A Fifty over a trip just shy of two miles on a yielding surface two years ago.
