'He's a lot better than we’ve seen and I expect him to win easily' - our expert panel dig through a packed Saturday to find some punting gems

Graeme Rodway, Maddy Playle and former jockey Robert Winston help make up the team

Who wins the day's big race, the July Cup (4.35)?

Pat Cooney, bet365 I thought Notable Speech was a July Cup winner in waiting after last year's 2,000 Guineas win. His rapid sectionals on the all-weather at Kempton before then were full of speed. I've had to wait an extra year to find out, but I do think he has the right credentials to win this.

Maddy Playle, reporter I think the market has it spot on. On the ratings, if there's a runner who could outrun their odds, it's Rogue Lightning. The course-and-distance winner was unlucky in the Prix de l’Abbaye in 2023 when finishing in front of the following year’s winner Makarova and two of his last three runs were creditable. Perhaps he could outrun his odds at 50-1.

Stuart Redding, Racing & Football Outlook senior tipster There's a good chance Notable Speech will outclass them but there isn’t a lot of pace and that will go against him. Aidan O’Brien has been farming Group 1s and I can see that continuing with Whistlejacket. I would prefer it if he was drawn higher than stall two, but he won at this meeting last year and was unlucky when finishing sixth in the Commonwealth Cup.
