Transfer time: bring on the subs to make a big difference in the second half

It's transfer time in the Tote Ten To Follow competition with the window opening on Friday, August 14, at midday and closing at 10pm on Tuesday, August 18.
That's just in time for the transfers to take effect for the York Ebor meeting, which features three bonus races in the Juddmonte International, Nunthorpe Stakes and the Ebor itself.
Those who thought they were nicely teed up to gain bonus points in the Ebor thanks to ante-post favourite Hamish have had their hopes dashed by the injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season.
That makes him an obvious choice to be replaced as one of the two substitutions players can make. A list of horses in the competition who will no longer play a part is below.
However, other horses have emerged since the season started and have now earned a place in the game and merit consideration for inclusion.
Most obvious of these are the Aidan O'Brien Derby winners Serpentine and Santiago, as well as other promising Ballydoyle inmates such as Dawn Patrol and Tiger Moth. The full list of additions is also below.
Making substitutions with an eye to gaining bonus points is crucial to success and, in addition to the York races, there are a further seven races to aim at this season.
Those races are the Ayr Gold Cup, Irish Champion Stakes, St Leger, Tote Challenge Cup Handicap, Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, Champion Stakes, Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.
HORSES OUT OF THE GAME
