The £64,000 question is whose team will triumph in climax of Tote Ten To Follow?

There will be some nervous fingers clicking through the lists in the Tote Ten To Follow competition as the leaders size up their rivals' chances of nipping in to snatch the £64,452 first prize in a race which has engrossed players for the last four and a half months.
The competition concludes on Saturday with Qipco British Champions Day hosting four Group 1 races worth 25 points each. These include two bonus races, the Queen Elizabeth II and Qipco Champion Stakes worth an additional 25 points to the winners and 12 points to the runners-up. With barely 20 points covering the top six teams in the table the result could be decided by just one race.
The longtime frontrunner Teleprompter 1 holds a 15-point lead over JD's Last Throw of the Bottle. Both have in their squads QEII hotpot Palace Pier and the versatile Magical, who could start favourite for the Champion or Fillies & Mares Stakes, but while the leader has Champion back-up from Lord North, his pursuer has Mogul in his camp for the same race and the redoubtable Circus Maximus in the QEII.
Teleprompter has a second string to his bow as he also holds third on the leaderboard with a list that includes another prime QEII contender in Kameko. The Map17 team in fifth have a potential game-changer in Sprint contender Oxted, while sixth-placed Five Lamps 27 will come into the reckoning if Terebellum lands the QEII, particularly as the Tote win and place returns are added to total points.

With so many points at stake on the final day the winner could still come from out of the pack so every success counts. However, last week, with the focus on top-class juvenile races which fall outside the competition, there were just six horses who contributed to their teams' totals.
On Saturday, Dakota Gold and Gulliver were scorers at York. The former took his tally to 41 points when picking up 18.7 in the Bengough Stakes. Gulliver added 41.6 points in the Coral Sprint Trophy, with 31.6 of those thanks to his Tote returns.
On Friday at York, Ouzo scored his first 25.1 points (15.1 for his Tote price), in a competitive handicap and at Newmarket Happy Power reached 60 points with his 28.4 point haul in the Challenge Stakes, while Angel Power's 20.2 points took her to 61.7. Open Wide scored under the lights at Kempton, picking up 20 points.
There will be another opportunity to play for a big prize when the Tote Ten To Follow for the jumps season launches next month. Details will be announced in the Racing Post.
