Teal weighing up Goodwood targets for stable star Tip Two Win
Tip Two Win looks set to grace Glorious Goodwood, but which race the 2,000 Guineas runner-up will contest is still up for debate.
Trainer Roger Teal and owner-breeder Anne Cowley took the colt to Royal Ascot following his excellent effort behind Saxon Warrior at Newmarket, but while he ran well he could manage no better than fourth behind Without Parole in the St James's Palace Stakes.
Teal said: “He’s back in full work after Ascot and we’re looking at Goodwood – he’s in the Lennox and we haven’t ruled out the Sussex Stakes either [it would cost £70,000 to supplement him].
"The form is all around us and the Eclipse proved that. The form is solid and I’m confident he can bounce back to the level of his Guineas second.
"We were too far back at Ascot and he didn’t settle early, ended up off the pace and made a big move to get into contention, which he paid for at the end. He still ran a creditable race and we’re happy with him. I know him – he’s tough, and he’ll be back."

While Tip Two Win's Goodwood target remains up in the air, there is a more definitive goal later in the year.
“The big aim is a trip to the Breeders’ Cup and that’s been the plan since the Guineas," said Teal.
"That’s why we didn’t initially enter him in the Sussex Stakes as I was hoping to give him a short break with that in mind, but after running so well in the Guineas and at Ascot, sometimes you have to take your opportunities over here.
"We’ve not ruled out the Sussex and he’ll tell us if he’s ready. It’s a nice quandary to have – even if it is a bit of an unusual one."
As for the added interest in him and his operation thanks to the exploits of his star three-year-old, Teal added: “I’ve definitely been more popular since we’ve had Tip Two Win.
"I’ve done more interviews and TV things since his success and it gets your name out there. Hopefully a few more like him come along one day.”
